Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program-Family and Senior Housing
The Housing Commission manages and operates a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program available through the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

- The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program is a Federal Rental Assistance Program for very low income persons.
- A family receives a rent subsidy, determined by the Section 8 Management Office, and then the family decides how much they are willing to spend out of their own pocket for rental housing. The Family pays the difference between the rent subsidy and the actual contract rent of the unit.
- Families, seniors and persons with disabilities are eligible for this program if their income does not exceed federal income guidelines established by HUD.
- The Housing Commission administers approximately 600 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.
