The Eleger G. Harvey Re-Investment Center – Meeting & Banquet Hall
The Re-Investment Center is a family oriented, accessible, affordable, clean, community-based facility located at 3013 24th Street between Nern and Manuel Streets, on the south side of Port Huron. It is the best kept secret in town and is available to anyone!
A spacious, multi-purpose room of approximately 50’ x 38’ is available for occasions of most any kind! Seating capacity is 120 with tables and 160 with chairs only.
Air conditioning, a warming kitchen, a podium, an ample supply of tables and chairs are other amenities that are included. Plenty of parking close to the building. Wireless Internet available.

Programs Available:
HEAD START / PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM:
Located in the Reinvestment Center, 3013 24th Street. This program is operated in partnership with Economic Opportunity Committee. For application information, call 810.987.3116.
COMPUTER LEARNING CENTER:
The center is located in our Re-Investment Center, 3013 24th Street. There are 6 computers along with printers, T.V. and V.C.R. Programs are offered after school and during the summer to At-Risk Youth. Programs are designed to improve self-images, attention spans, along with improving skills in math, language, decision making, team work and planning. Internet access is also available for both youth and adults. Programs are run by the Center for Human Resources. For more information, call 810.984.6421.
SENIOR MEALS PROGRAM:
A daily meals program is operated at Desmond Village Monday through Friday. The St. Clair County Council on Aging prepares the meals and Port Huron Housing Commission provides the facilities.
FEDERAL FOOD SURPLUS PROGRAM:
The Federal Food Surplus Program is operated in partnership with the Economic Opportunity Committee and is held every three months for families and monthly for seniors age 60 and over. Locations for food pick-up are The Armory for families and each of our senior sites for persons age 60 and over. These locations distribute over 400 units (bags of surplus food) to both senior and family residents.
NEIGHBORHOOD OUTREACH CENTER:
The Housing Commission in partnership with the City of Port Huron Police Department operates the Neighborhood Outreach Center in Dulhut Village. This Center was created to encourage neighborhood involvement to fight crime in and around our housing villages. The Community Police Officer has his office there and the Police Department operates its Bike Patrol from this center. For more information, please call 810.984.6421 or 810.984.9718.
DRUG ELIMINATION PROGRAM:
With Grant funding from HUD the Housing Commission has a three-prong Drug Elimination Program. Component 1) Law Enforcement (both traditional and non-traditional. 2) Prevention and 3) Outreach/Empowerment programs. Many individual programs are offered year round. MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT:
Our Maintenance Department is charged with the total up keep of all our apartments. They recondition all vacant units; perform yearly preventive maintenance, snow removal, ground maintenance, etc. The 24 hour Emergency number and regular maintenance is 810.984.6410.
MODERNIZATION PROGRAM:
The Commission participates in the HUD Modernization Capital Fund Program with grant funding on a yearly basis to modernize our complexes. A 5-Year Action Plan, which prioritizes work needed on a yearly basis, is followed to assure our housing stock remains viable. Examples of accomplishments are: roofing, siding, new kitchens, doors, windows, bath, playground equipment, parking lots, lighting, etc. For more information on bids or planned work, please contact 810.984.6422.
SAVE OUR NEIGHBORHOODS AND STREETS (SONS)
The Housing commission provides an apartment in Dulhut Village for the exclusive use by SONS. SONS offers programs such as Manhood, Breakfast Club, Arts and Mornings for Moms to name a few, this provides for a very positive impact on the area. Inquire at 810.989.7667.
BLUE WATER COUNCIL OF BOY SCOUTS
The Port Huron Housing Commission has partnered with the Boy Scouts and provided funding to form and maintain scout units in our family villages for boys ages 7 through 10. Weekly meetings are held to assist the boys in achieving rank advancements in the program. Current enrollment is 10-12 boys, however the Boy Scouts are currently heavily promoting this program to encourage more participation.
MICHIGAN WATERWAY COUNCIL OF GIRL SCOUTS
The Port Huron Housing Commission has also partnered with the Girl Scouts and provided funding for them to also form and maintain scout units in our family villages. Not only are weekly meetings held, but additional activities have also been added to include summer camps and recognition meetings. Current enrollment is 40-50 girls with meeting being held at all three family sites.
COMMUNITY BUILDINGS
